PITCH STUDIOS is a future-focused design studio creating stories, images and experiences. Their practice explores phygital spaces or environments, seeking to contextualize the fragmented world that we experience.
Forever Meadow is a meditative walking application, one which would invite you on a journey where your moving feet trigger the creation of an endless garden around you. Whilst it might not always be physically possible, many people crave a closer connection to the natural world or simply yearn for the outdoors. Forever Meadow proposes augmented reality as a tool to experience the benefits of meditative walking (a technique used to calm the mind while out and about) from within the home.
As you walk through your home in AR, flowers and grass would grow and mould themselves to their surroundings. As these algorithmically generated organic elements overtake the room, they would breathe life back into tired and overused spaces. The beautiful and calming space it creates would rejuvenate the home into a new sanctuary to explore. It wouldn’t only be people who activate the experience, but the space itself would become a character that determines the virtual content variables.

Forever Meadow would use LiDAR technology to detect objects and understand their position within a space before adding a layer of AR on top, generating a burst of blooming plants and flowers wherever you walk. The app could also incorporate machine learning to customise the experience for each individual, allowing everyone to feel as though they are the creators of their own natural sanctuary. For each different space, unique flower and vegetation combinations would be generated, with colour detection technology taking pixel samples from the room and adapting the virtual flora.

Sound plays a crucial role in the app – as we experience spaces not only by seeing but by listening too. Taking into account both these senses, the soundscape of the experiment would consist of a tranquil aural environment, bending into the sounds of everyday life for a truly meditative outcome.
